Living & Working in Berlin
Working in Berlin
Come together with creative and driven individuals working towards a common goal – to become the market leaders in providing great value and quality holiday apartments.
Our main office is situated in central Berlin, a city which is a melting pot of entrepreneurs and creative individuals from all four corners of the globe who are turning innovative ideas into successful businesses every day. Berlin is just as diverse and international as the people you meet at Wimdu. It is a modern metropolis with a very high standard of living (excellent health care, insurance and education), whilst the cost of living is relatively low. Anyone who is employed by a company operating in Germany can take advantage of the state health insurance plan, which is well subsidised.
Living in Berlin
Many of the people you will meet in Berlin once travelled to the city with the intentions of a short break, but instead decided to stay. The Wimdu team includes some of those people who just couldn’t resist this magnetic city. People are drawn to Berlin for a number of different reasons, whether it be its historic past, multiculturalism, interesting people or the full spectrum of museums, architecture and street art spotted across the city. This is in addition to its fast, action-packed lifestyle, international flair and unlimited possibilities. For those who prefer a more quiet atmosphere, Berlin is also a city with vast natural beauty: Around one third of the city’s area is composed of forests, parks, gardens, rivers and lakes. One thing that Berlin can guarantee is that you will never get bored.
Berlin has tons of affordable living possibilities and great value rental rates compared to other German cities. A range of different options are available, from apartment sharing to weekly apartment rental to an apartment just for yourself, making sure there is accommodation to match your salary. Berlin is divided into several districts. Each district has its own flair from grungy Kreuzberg with its trendy bars and colourful street art, to elegant Charlottenburg where luxury stores line Kurfürstendamm. Even though Berlin is a metropolis, its neighbourhoods have a friendly and homey feel. You can rely on the fact that wherever you may choose to live, there will be a pharmacy, supermarket or “Späti” just around the corner. These will be your personal savior in times when you forgot to buy beer for your friends or need to whip up a batch of Wurst and Spätzle for dinner. However, it doesn’t matter where you settle down because effective public transport connections will easily allow you to travel to any part of the city.
Berlin is not missing the fun factor and offers thousands of entertainment opportunities. Besides its numerous bars and restaurants, the city is home to many shopping centres, boutiques, flea markets, theatres, cinemas and more. Berliners also love a good festival so keep your eye out for posters advertising music, food and beer festivals. All of these options you can find at a low price, or even for free.
